The Path Less Traveled

Ask, Seek, and Knock

The following verses can be found in Matthew 7. God is telling us that all we have to do to get to know Him better is ask questions, look, and investigate. He isn’t trying to hide, He is wanting to be found, but I think we would all understand that He also wants to know we are interested in getting to know Him and His ways… Pursuing Him.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened

Do you remember the excitement you initially had with a first love or husband when love was starting to first blossom? The excitement of just seeing him or how you would eagerly wait merely just to hear the sound of his voice?

Our Father God deeply desires for us to have that same excitement and eagerness for Him as well!

It is helpful to think of times in your life that you greatly needed the Lord’s help and He showed up or the moments when you were in distress and He gave you peace and confidence in Him to push through a situation that enabled you to come out with a victory under your belt. Remembering God’s faithfulness to me in prior times is always a sure faith builder!

Reading His word, digging in and discovering some deeper truths and meanings behind it are crucial for your growth. This is how you keep God’s word fresh in your life. I also believe this is a personal responsibility. I can’t make you do it or give you the desire to discover ALL the hidden gems God has saved just for you, but I can tell you that you won’t be disappointed!

Let’s look what God’s word says in Psalm 119: verse 10 states:

I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
11 and 12 continue with: ” I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees.”

That’s where we get our strength from , the truth of His word.

Here’s more from verses 13-16:

“With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.
I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches.I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.”

Did you catch that? Meditate….think on these things.. Roll them over through your mind like a fresh shovelful of rich, dark soil for these new seeds.

Please excuse the jumping back to the verses I started this post with in Matthew 7.

Verses 13-14 contain a warning that quickened my heart to start this blog in the first place. They bring to question who is going to take the time? Who is going to initiate this growth process? Who has the desire? In these verses it says not many. They even use the word, FEW!

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

This is where I encourage you to know that YOU are not in the FEW. If you are reading this and it’s stirring something on the inside to learn, look up, study, than we are on that small less trodden path together.

Keep going! Keep praying! Keep fighting the good fight!

    1. Yes you are! Thanks for commenting. I so appreciate fellow believers. They remind me that even though it’s a path less traveled, there are definitely more of us than the enemy wants us to know about! We are not alone!
