Don’t Worry About a Thing

Yes, Bob Marley is currently floating through my head, becoming a life song for me. Thought I had that solidified from the fight I had going through M. S. issues, but it’s not surprising that the enemy will NEVER back down until he’s finally put away in the place he will rule and reign from, never to be let out to wreak havoc again. I can’t ever forget that he is the author of lies, cheating, and stealing from us. (John 10:10)

The main difference in my life and hopefully yours is that we know the truth. Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 contd.) Hang on to that, like it’s the lifeline that it is. This requires tenacity and a determination to never let go! We do have weak moments, but make sure they are only moments and not the definition of who you are and definitely not the confession that comes out of your mouth.

It helps to have several friends that will remind you of this when you need it. Don’t forget that God Almighty is one of those friends too. The NIV translation of this is, “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” This has always encouraged me, knowing Jesus is there, He knows and He will fight for me and whatever is heavy on my heart. My deepest hope is that this blog will become one of those friends for you as well! I don’t understand why some people are so against the Creator of Heaven and Earth until I remember our enemy is such a deceiver! That’s his definition, his motive from the time of his fall, and his hatred for anything and everything that God loves is his only inspiration. Don’t forget that dear one!

Another scripture to put in my quiver and was reminded of this morning is 1Peter 5:7. Here Peter reminds us to, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” That means we are not to be worried, fretful, disturbed, or bothered. I’m not denying that this is a difficult instruction. You must know that anything that is written in His word, He will enable you to do. We can’t do this on our own. Lean into His word to equip yourself. Ask Him to show you a scripture you can hold onto in the difficult times when your flesh is screaming, “This isn’t fair! This isn’t right! What can I do?! This is impossible!”

Remember God loves working with situations like this to show Himself strong. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose.”Romans 8:28 NIV Don’t forget that Jesus said, ” What is imposible with man is possible with God.” Luke 18:27 NIV. My suggestion to you is to get up, dust yourself off, put on your big girl panties and remind the enemy he has no business lying, stealing or cheating from you. Tell him to get out!

We can’t take a passive role in this. There’s been too high of a price paid by the sacrifice that Jesus made at Calvary! Reminds me of the trip to New York City I recently made because of the kindness and generosity of my dear friend, Heather. I was able to see the Statue of Liberty and was reminded that liberty means freedom. Freedom from sin, freedom from oppression, freedom from being imprisoned by hate, fear, or worry!

Can’t think of a better way to end this than with Galatians 5:1 NIV, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Fight on my war-weary friends and know. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed., for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 and, ” The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14 are great for any arsenal! Oh, and we’ve already won the fight through Him!
