Hello…..?

So yes, I’ve been gone for awhile and have missed chatting with you. I would like to say that I was on an exotic sabbatical, or on a wonderful trip, but the truth is I was doing something I thought God wanted me to be involved in and then discovered that I was fighting someone else’s battle.

Ever been there? Mistaken identity or mistaken roles often trip me up until I return to my “center” in knowing that God never leaves me or forsakes me and that He loves me unconditionally. What a great assurance it is to know that no matter what I do, my Father God is there to catch me. I hope you can see the trapeze bar swinging in the air as I let go and then fall into the huge big top tent that is below to catch me!

Sometimes I believe He gets us involved in something to show us the great need that is there or to reveal to us the need for prayer in that situation. Either way, He still has a plan, and this gives me peace.

Something I have wanted to address in this blog is the need to have a transformed mind. We don’t get this overnight and we certainly don’t get it by sitting on the couch eating Cheetohs!

In Romans 12: 1-2, Paul is telling us, “Therefore I urge you brothers and sisters, In view of God’s mercy, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice—holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–His pleasing and perfect will.”

As believers in Christ, we do not walk in the darkness that has surrounded this world. Instead of letting it influence us, our job is to subdue and overcome it with the dark piercing light of His truth and love. Jesus has provided us with the possibility to live as a conqueror not only in Heaven but on this earth as well. Let’s walk in it and live it!

Where is His truth clearly spoken to us and easily available here in the U. S.? The Bible. God’s Holy Word spoken to us and revealed to us so that I would be willing to speculate almost everyone has one in their possession here, but might not know the power they are holding while dusting their coffee-table. I’m seeing my Aunt Dot’s coffee table here that had a large bible on display back in the 70’s with lucite glass grapes by it. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

The bottom line really is, that the decision is yours to make. Sure, eternity is guaranteed as long as you have accepted Jesus and confessed Him as Lord of your life. This post is addressing the “abundant” life that Jesus talks about in John 10:10. “I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly”

Speaking of abundant life always makes me think of the fruits of the spirit that should be evident in a believer’s life. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, thoughtfulness and self-control. These are the things that should be the bill-board signs of our life screaming to the masses of people that walk our way. Believe me when I say, I’m speaking to myself here also!

How do we get stronger? The Word. How do we get wiser? The Word. How do we get more peaceful? The Word. How do we get braver? The Word. How do we become more thoughtful? The Word. How do we do things we never thought we could? The Word. It’s that same word that began so long ago with, “Let there be light.”

Did you ever stop to think that we are part of that light Father God spoke of in the beginning? Sobering isn’t it? I encourage you to be that light for someone today and to let your light shine brightly for all to see!
