Waking up in the wee morning hours for me is such a precious time. Today was earlier than normal, but I embraced it. This is when I meet with the Lord, covering those I love and myself in prayer. You, my dear friends, are on that list as well.
Speaking of lists, I’m reminded of a great weapon that we as believers have that I haven’t mentioned on this blog yet. The Name of Jesus! It is so powerful, wonderful, and incredible! Think of it. It is by His name that we are all saved. “for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” Acts 4:12 NIV
The most incredible thing to me though is how Jesus himself tells us to pray to the Father in “His name” in John 16:23. “Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” This is an open invitation to bring anything that is troubling our hearts and minds to the maker of Heaven and Earth. And when He says, “Anything.” He means Any Thing!
Do you have a wayward son or daughter? Do you have a sickness or disease? Do you feel misunderstood? Are you heartbroken? Are you in a financial crisis? Do you have unanswered questions? Do you need a miracle? What about your friends, family, circles of influence? are they in need? These onslaught attacks are of the enemy trying to parade around your life as if he is the victor, so I encourage you to take the spiritual authority that Christ so dearly bought for us and fight. Fight the good fight of faith!
Another fighter was David. When we read of the story of David and Goliath, we are told of how David even boasted of coming against the giant of a man Goliath, not with actual physical weapon, but with the name of his God. “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” 1 Samuel: 17: 45
Doesn’t that just get you going? I might wake up feeling groggy and less than, but thinking on that gets my spiritual juices flowing and ready to slay any mountain in my way through the power of my savior, Jesus! He is wonderful!
My prayer for us all is to know this dynamic spiritual authority that we have been given through the name of Jesus. John 14:12,13 sums it up very well, “Anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these. I (Jesus) will do whatever you ask in My name, and I will do it to glorify the Father”
His name is a powerful weapon that we have in our arsenal because we should see it as a representation of everything that Jesus accomplished both in the world we live in and in the heavens. When we declare, “in the name of Jesus” with FAITH, it’s just as if Jesus himself is making the petition.
Don’t take this on what I say, but what God did. “Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2: 9-11.
I really don’t have any other way to say this, but knowing the full truth of the power of Jesus’ name puts some “giddyup” in my step! Don’t we all need that in the morning?
