Beauty of the Lord

I love traveling and seeing God’s marvelous creations wherever I go! It’s even better when I can see them with family and see the wonder through a child’s eyes!

This past week and a half I was blessed to go see my son Luke’s family who are currently waiting for orders in the Space Force. These are the “Guardians” that watch over our country’s satellites , space frontiers, and missiles.

Although I am very thankful.for our country’s wealth of power, it just makes me reflect on the one who is ALL powerful and created all the beauty I recently got to see near Sedona.

While driving from Phoenix toward Sedona, you see small mountains in the distance and can feel your body adapting to higher altitudes among the bush and saguaro cacti. Hello popping ears!

The saguaros are a testament of patience and digging down deep for survival that we need to have in our walk with God that we’ve talked about before. Imagine the power to survive in a place that regularly has triple digit temperatures and relentless sun in the day. It takes the saguaros approximately 100 years for them to grow their iconic “arms”.

Just like the saguaro, it takes us time to learn how to dig deep into God’s word to discover the golden truths He has for us that are like prescious water for a Cactus. Going to bible studies with others, studying on your own with the help of great teachers along with setting a special time where you meet with God daily are a few suggestions.

After driving for an hour from Phoenix, we got into some higher mountains, less saguaros and more landscapes that you might have seen in some old westerns and can see the power of wind and water erosion.

You might as well know that every geology lesson can also lead to a spiritual one for me. The wind and water erosion slowly wearing away the rock and not noticed right away alerts me to things in my life that might be doing the same to my spirit.

Not taking time to talk with Father God, not stopping to thank Him for the little things that add up to so much, not being sensitive to other’s needs could all be signs of erosion in my own spirit and soul.

My Bible study, praise and worship time coupled with prayer are what this girl knows she needs to stay strong in her fight of faith everyday. You are needful of these too and I hope this geology lesson has helped you make the connection with that in your own life as well. :0)

  1. I love your encouragement. And I took a little trip to the desert with you through your pics! I’ve been struggling lately with stress and anxiety about work. I have to remember no matter how busy I get, that spending time w God has to be a priority to keep a balance. Thanks Sheri! I appreciate your writing.

      Deuteronomy 30:9
the LORD your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The LORD will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors,

Don’t give up now, you’ve come so far!

    1. That’s the truth Dawn! From the most majestic of mountains to the small hummingbird. Just looking at the way flowers are designed reminds me of the precision to detail He has. Why indeed do we worry?

It’s in Matthew 6 NIV that Jesus begins to tell us, ”
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
